Last updated: May 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ru8iks (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with Invoice & Receipt Generator and any related website, software, and services (collectively, the “Software”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA where it applies.

If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at the support address provided with your order.

1. What this policy covers

This policy applies to personal information collected by Ru8iks through:

  • Your use of the Software and its features.
  • Your purchase of a paid license through our checkout provider.
  • Your communications with us, including support requests.
  • Your visit to our website.

This policy does not apply to the business document content you create within the Software, such as invoices, receipts, and client records. That data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to Ru8iks as part of the core local-first functionality.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide the Software and related services.

Information you provide directly:

  • Your name and email address when purchasing a license.
  • Payment-related information processed by Lemon Squeezy. We do not store your full payment details.
  • Communications you send to us for support or inquiries.

Information collected automatically:

  • License key status and activation data, including device count and activation events, for license validation and anti-abuse controls.
  • Basic technical data related to checkout and payment processing managed by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record.
  • Standard web server logs that may include your IP address and browser type when you visit our website.

Information we do not collect:

  • The content of your invoices, receipts, or client records. This data stays on your device.
  • Sensitive personal information such as government ID, financial account details, or health information, unless you choose to send it to us voluntarily in a support message.

3. Local-first data storage

The Software is designed to be local-first. Your document data, including invoices, receipts, business profiles, and client information, is stored locally in your browser’s storage on your device.

Ru8iks does not have access to this data and does not transmit it to our servers as part of the core Software functionality. You are responsible for the security and backup of locally stored data.

4. How we use personal information

We use personal information only for the following purposes:

  • To provide the Software, including processing your license purchase, activating and validating your license key, and providing access to paid features.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, including monitoring license activations to detect sharing or fraudulent use in violation of our Terms.
  • To provide support by responding to your questions, refund requests, or technical inquiries.
  • To communicate about your license, including transactional emails related to your purchase, license key, or material updates to these Terms or this Policy.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including retaining transaction records as required by applicable tax, accounting, or legal requirements.

We do not use your personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not sell it to third parties.

5. How we share personal information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We share personal information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Lemon Squeezy (Merchant of Record). Payments, taxes, invoicing, and checkout are processed by Lemon Squeezy. When you purchase a license, Lemon Squeezy collects and processes your payment and billing information as Merchant of Record. Their privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy.
  • Service providers. We may share personal information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the Software or our website, such as hosting or license validation services, strictly for those purposes and subject to confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ru8iks, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of Ru8iks’ assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any material impact on how your information is handled.

6. Cookies and tracking

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies for basic functionality such as session management and checkout flows. We do not use cookies or tracking technologies for advertising or cross-site behavioral tracking.

Third-party services used during checkout, such as Lemon Squeezy, may set their own cookies in accordance with their policies.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by applicable law.

  • Purchase and license records are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to meet tax, accounting, legal, and fraud-prevention obligations.
  • Support communications are retained for up to 3 years after your last interaction with us, unless a longer period is required for legal, security, or recordkeeping purposes.
  • License activation logs are retained for as long as your license is active, and for a reasonable period thereafter for fraud prevention and support purposes.

When personal information is no longer required, we will securely delete or anonymize it where feasible.

8. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. These measures include access controls, encrypted transmission over HTTPS, and limiting access to personal information to those who need it.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Withdraw consent to the use of your personal information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
  • Request deletion of your personal information, where we are not legally required to retain it.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with applicable law.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the support address provided with your order. We will respond within a reasonable time, and in any event within the time required by applicable law. In some cases, we may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

10. Children’s privacy

The Software is not directed at individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us and we will promptly delete it where required or appropriate.

11. International data transfers

Ru8iks is based in Ontario, Canada. If you access the Software from outside Canada, your personal information may be processed in Canada and, where third-party providers are involved such as Lemon Squeezy, in other jurisdictions.

Those jurisdictions may have different data protection laws than your own. By using the Software, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in these jurisdictions as described in this policy.

12. Third-party links

Our website or Software may contain links to third-party websites or services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes, such as new types of personal information collected, new purposes for use, or new third-party sharing arrangements, will be communicated at least 14 days in advance through a notice on our website or within the Software where feasible.

Continued use of the Software after the updated policy takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy for non-material changes. For material changes, where required by applicable law, we will seek your express consent.

14. Contact us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the handling of your personal information, please contact Ru8iks Support via the support address provided with your order or through the website contact page.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
